This made me laugh, so I must share it. The other day Sylvia was taking a NAP (yes she slept for 45 minutes, I think I scared all of you with the last post, Naima was worried that I was losing it over here. Haven't broke down yet, so that's pretty okay!) and Jack and I were making a plum cake. He was on his little library chair in the kitchen helping me and this was our conversation (yes I am snippy, and Jack asks approximately 10,000 questions a day, don't judge):
Jack: "Mom, when is Sylvia going to walk EVERYWHERE, like without a stroller?"
Me: "Uhhh, I don't know, she doesn't really need a stroller now..."
Jack: "But when??? How many months before she stops falling and hitting her head? When will she walk with real shoes??"
Me: "I don't know exactly Jack..."
Jack: "JUST TELL ME!!! Tell me NOW! When will she be as tall as me??"
Me: "Well Jack when she is as tall as you you will be taller because you will always be three years older than Sylvia..."
Jack: "I know that!!! When will she be AS TALL AS ME NOW?? Tell ME, YOU HAVE TO KNOW!!! When will she TALK???"
Me: (Cracking egg and getting shell in the batter) "I DON"T KNOW JACK! Do I look like a FORTUNE TELLER? Do you think I know the FUTURE??? All adults can't tell the future and I CERTAINLY CAN NOT TELL THE FUTURE! (we are loud in our house, it's okay because we hug and smooch a lot)
Jack: (Very still and thoughtful)
Me: "Honey I am sorry, Mama's just very tired..." (picking eggshells out with fork)
Jack: (in a breathy drawn out way) "Mama, the future is FUUUULLLLL of WONDER..."
Me: (dumbfounded)
Jack: "Daddy read that to me from Magic Treehouse."
And it totally made me smile and smooch his little face, he looked so hesitant and kind of half smiley when he said it. And his little future is full of wonder, sweet boy.
Hey I made this with bean flour and Piers can eat it and it is good. I swear.
