"And Max the king of all the wild things was lonely and wanted to be where someone loved him best of all."
- Where The Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak
And then, I looked at Jack and Syl cozied up under the covers of my sister's old bed and said, "and where would that be Jack? Where do you think the place where someone loves you best of all is?" and when Jack pointed at me and smiled a little and said "home", it felt good.
Piers is recovering slowly but surely and I am still at my parents waiting all this out. Every once and a while I miss having our family of four in our own space and worry about the effect it is having on the kids, but when I hear things like this I know we are going to be okay. I also have to say, I know we are trying to move down to the states, but thank goodness for Canadian health care, where my husband still gets full pay for all this time off and such great care (massages and physical therapy covered). And thank goodness for my parents and sisters. Whenever I get sad or worried, I should remember, lucky lucky lucky...
